About the Recipe
This tasty entree is easy to prepare. A light creamy sauce combined with the savory Ham and sweet peas is the perfect weeknight dinner for busy families.
Ingredients
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp. garlic clove, minced
¼ onion, diced
¼ cup tomato paste
½ cup heavy cream
¼ tsp. red pepper flakes
½ tsp. kosher salt,
⅛ ground black pepper
½ lb shell pasta
½ cup pasta water*
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp fresh basil
¼ cup parmesan cheese
3 slices of thick cut ham, cubed
½ cup frozen peas
Preparation
Cook pasta in salted water.
Heat olive oil in a saucepan, add diced onion and saute 3 minutes, add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Add heavy cream, blend well and then add tomato paste. Stir until all is well combined and cook for 2 to 3 more minutes.
Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. Prepare shell pasta until al dente, reserve ½ cup pasta water.
Once pasta is prepared and drained, add the cooked pasta to the sauce, along with pasta water and butter. Stir until well combined.
Plate and serve with grated parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
